MPS Releases High-Frequency, Synchronous, Rectified, Step-Down, Switch-Mode Converter for Production

The MP8712 is a high-frequency, synchronous, rectified, step-down, switch-mode converter that delivers 12A of continuous and 15A of peak output current with the best-in-class load and line regulation over a wide input supply range.

Key features of MP8712 High-Frequency, Synchronous, Rectified, Step-Down, Switch-Mode Converter

The leading-edge MP8712 high-frequency, synchronous, rectified, step-down, switch-mode converter integrates Constant-on-time (COT) control operation that provides a fast transient response. The power system also incorporates an open-drain power good pin (PG), which indicates that the output voltage is in the nominal range.

Full protection features of MP8712 include over-voltage protection (OVP), over-current protection (OCP), and thermal shutdown. Other key features of the new high-frequency, synchronous, rectified, step-down, switch-mode converter are as follows:

  •  Wide 3V to 18V Operating Input Range
  • 12A Continuous/15A Peak Output Current
  • 1% Internal Reference Accuracy
  • Output Adjustable from 0.6V
  • 15mΩ High-Side, 4.5mΩ Low-Side RDS(ON) for Internal Power MOSFETs
